Complete the required DFPS training to support children in your care.

Medical Consent Training

Medical consent forms ensure that healthcare providers have the necessary authorization to deliver care to children in DFPS conservatorship. This training covers the process for completing and understanding medical consent forms to facilitate proper care.

Normalcy Training

This training emphasizes the importance of providing children in foster care with a “normal” living environment. We aim to help caregivers understand how to support age-appropriate activities, socialization, and experiences for children in their care while balancing safety and well-being.

Psychotropic Medication Training

This training outlines the expectations for the safe and responsible use of psychotropic medications for children in DFPS conservatorship. It covers guidelines for medication management, monitoring, and ensuring the child’s health and safety.

Trauma-Informed Care Training

Trauma-informed care Training educates caregivers on the long-term effects of trauma, including childhood abuse and neglect. Understanding the impact of trauma is crucial for providing appropriate and empathetic care. This training is a key element in effective service delivery for children, families, and caregivers.

Reporting Abuse Training

In Texas, anyone who suspects that a child is being abused or neglected has a legal obligation to report it. This training helps caregivers understand what constitutes “reasonable cause” and the steps to take to report abuse, ensuring that children’s safety is prioritized. Professional reporters are required to file a report within 48 hours.

Sexual Abuse Training

This training covers topics related to sexual abuse, including:

  • Sexual indecency, sexual assault, or aggravated sexual assault.
  • Failing to make a reasonable effort to prevent sexual conduct with a child.
  • Using a child to create obscene or pornographic material.

Caregivers will be equipped with knowledge to recognize, report, and prevent sexual abuse in foster care situations.

Caregiver Training Hub

The Caregiver Training Hub provides resources and training designed to support the need for children in your care to have a normal living environment, helping caregivers understand the critical role they play in fostering development and providing a safe and stable home.

Form 2403 Training

Form 2403 is used to document all medical appointments, including medical, dental, vision, hearing, and behavioral health services. Caregivers are trained to complete this form to ensure proper documentation of each child’s medical care, including primary medical needs, within the required timeframes.
